Robin Aikens was born December
26, 1969 in Chicago, Illinois. Her mother's
name is Rosie Ross. Robin
went to elementary school at Beasley Magnet School, and transferred
to Melton Elementary in Gary, Indiana. Golf was taken up at an early
age for Robin, and at age 7 she began to compete against other children.
During her elementary school years, she was competing with The Bob-O-Links
golf club a division of The Chicago Women's Golf Club. By the time
Robin graduated from high school she had won over 25 trophies and
awards for golf. Robin auditioned for Emerson School for Visual
and Performing Arts School when she was in the 7th grade, where
she majored in violin performance. She was actively involved in
playing in the Emerson Symphony Orchestra, and she began playing
professionally in The Gary Civic Symphony before graduating from
high school. Robin won 15 first place awards for violin performance
(solo and group performances) for the Indiana State School Music
Association (ISSMA).
Robin was still competing in golf and winning
tournaments, and she tried out for Gary Roosevelt's Girls Golf
Team and made it on the team. Emerson did not have a golf team
so she had to compete at a high school that did have the team.
While playing on the team in her junior and senior year, Robin
became MVP for both the years she played on the team. During her
high school years, she won The Midwest District Championship Title
for Girls.
Robin went on to Purdue University and she walked
on the Purdue Women's Team. During her college years, she won the
Midwest District College Division as well. Robin did not continue
at Purdue West Lafayette Campus. Robin continued her college experience
at Purdue University Calumet Hammond Campus. Robin also played
in Purdue University Symphony Orchestra- 1st violin section.
Robin graduated from Purdue University and went
on to Roosevelt University where she obtained 2 Master's Degrees.
One is in Elementary Education and the other is in Educational
Administration and Supervision.
Robin has also been in 3 beauty pageants: Hal
Jackson's Miss Talented Teen 2nd runner up, Miss Black and Gold-
1st runner up (Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity), Miss America Pageant
Preliminary- 1st Runner Up. Robin has also toured with Shadow Vignettes
Jazz Band. Robin has shared the stage with rap sensation, Common,
when she was 20 years old. She played the violin while he rapped.
She is also an actress and had non-speaking roles 3 motion picture
movies.
At age 34, Robin Aikens is a member of The Ladies
Professional Golf Association (LPGA) Teaching and Club Professional
Division (T&CP Division). She is President and CEO of Golf
Safari, 3 formidable business units (Golf Safari Apparel, Golf
Safari Accessories, and Golf Safari Publications). She is also
CEO and President of ProStarGolf, 2 business units (ProStarGolf
Schools, and ProStarGolf Productions - to produce televised celebrity
charity golf outings that are fun and entertaining).
Robin has coached Division I golf at Chicago State
University. She was named Head Women's Golf Coach. She is Executive
Director of Inner City Golf Mentor Program, a 501 C 3 organization,
she founded to give back to the community and helps inner city
youth learn the game of golf. InnerCityGolf is a two-time award
winning junior golf program. The awards are the 2000 S. Garry Oniki
Award for Community Empowerment, and the 2001 Hook A Kid on Golf "New
Program of the Year Award. "
Robin has 3 children Taylor (age 7), Jordan and
Jalen (twin girl and boy- age 5).
Robin Aikens is the author of her self-published
book, How I Found My 'Sweet Spot'...and How You Can Find Yours. Robin
found her 'sweet spot' by becoming a member of The Ladies Professional
Golf Association (LPGA). She hit her goal with accuracy and she has
become a member of the most prestigious women's golf organization
in the world.
